The Adinkra symbols are part of a rich African tradition dating back beyond the 17th century, and they are believed to have their origin from Gyaman - a former kingdom in today’s Ivory Coast. The stunning motifs were developed by the Asante people of Ghana, West Africa, who evolved the unique art of Adinkra printing cloths, made and used exclusively by royalty and spiritual leaders for sacred ceremonies. The meaning of each symbol derives from a proverb, history, events, human attitude, animal behavior, plants and shapes of inanimate and man-made objects.

The Adinkra tradition continues to flourish in modern times and the number of symbols continues to grow. In contemporary Ghana, the symbols and their meanings are still very much used to convey a message through a wide range of products and crafts, including clothing accessories, interior design, carpentry, architure etc.

Round 1 - New to the Mushroom Kingdom Start your adventure in style with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.

Mario:
35 ml Cherry Sambuca
15 ml Blue Curacao
Directions: Pour the sambuca into a shot glass and layer the blue curacao on top.

Luigi:
35 ml Midori
15 ml Blue Curacao
Directions: Pour the Midori into a shot glass and layer the blue curacao on top.

Princess Peach:
45 ml Peach schnapps
5 ml Grenadine
Directions: Combine both ingredients into a shot glass.

Round 2 - Ready to move up in the (drink) world? You’ll need some friends.

45 ml White Sambuca
5ml Cranberry juice

1 part Black Sambuca
1 part White Sambuca
1 part Mount Gay Extra Old rum
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shot glass and light it on fire.

This is my gift to myself for my 18th birthday :) There’s no specific meaning to it, I just LOVE flowers and chubby adorable birds and I thought it would be a great accessory to my body and a fun piece of artwork to look at. I got it done by Shawn Hebrank at Identity Tattoo in Maple Grove, Minnesota. He did such a fantastic and beautiful job and was SO much fun to talk to. It took 4.5 hours and was pretty painless until the last hour or so of intense shading. The picture was taken immediately after the tattoo was completed, so it’s really red and swollen. I’d totally recommend Shawn to anyone looking to get a tattoo of anything nature/animal related. He’s really great. Here’s a link to his blog as well! http://shawnhebrankart.blogspot.com/
